Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luke Gardner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke McKendrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luke Gardner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luke McKendrick!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Gardner. McKendrick does a little dance to reset his feet.
Gardner slaps away a takedown attempt from McKendrick, before circling back to the center of the mat.
McKendrick pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gardner scores with a body shot.
Luke McKendrick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gardner misses with a body kick.
McKendrick drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Gardner throws a lazy head kick

and McKendrick counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by McKendrick.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McKendrick throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gardner works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

McKendrick drops back looking for a leg! Gardner is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gardner manages to kick McKendrick off! McKendrick jumps back into Gardner's guard.

McKendrick is pushing down on Gardner's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gardner is fighting to maintain full guard but McKendrick has managed to sneak the leg through.
Gardner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McKendrick on the ground.

McKendrick thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
McKendrick working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

McKendrick is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Gardner still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Gardner has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

McKendrick is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
McKendrick is refusing to be controlled, as Gardner sits in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McKendrick looking for submissions off his back.
McKendrick wants to improve his position but Gardner is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McKendrick has a hand on Gardner's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Gardner takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Gardner can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McKendrick is looking to escape.
McKendrick really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
McKendrick is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gardner has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

McKendrick is wriggling around trying to escape.
Gardner controlling the pace for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McKendrick is trying desperately to improve position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McKendrick scores with a crisp jab that stopped Gardner in his tracks.
Gardner misses with a left hand
and McKendrick counters with a nice low kick that buckles Gardner's knee momentarily.
Gardner throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Luke McKendrick is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gardner motions for McKendrick to come forward. Gardner throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Gardner throws a head kick that McKendrick semi-blocks.
McKendrick pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gardner misses with a left hand

and McKendrick counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Gardner!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McKendrick throws some wild stikes that Gardner manages to avoid easily.
McKendrick tries to control but Gardner wriggling away.

McKendrick moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Gardner has worked his arm free - good work by Gardner!

McKendrick swings around for an armbar but Gardner sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into McKendrick's guard.
McKendrick looking for a sweep. Not yet McKendrick, not yet.

McKendrick throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Gardner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McKendrick swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

McKendrick escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gardner gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

McKendrick is looking for a triangle but Gardner pushes his legs off easily.
McKendrick manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gardner manages to get himself to full guard.
McKendrick stands and throws Gardner's legs to the side, diving into side control.

McKendrick working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Gardner is trying to get back to half guard.

McKendrick wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gardner, who protects the arm well.

McKendrick tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
McKendrick trying to control the position but Gardner is working away.

McKendrick looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Luke McKendrick showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Gardner's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


McKendrick goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
McKendrick connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Gardner throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gardner just misses with a punch to the body.
Both fighters circling a little - Gardner finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Gardner ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Gardner has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gardner there as he acknowledges the shot.

Luke Gardner is winning the standup battle so far.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gardner throws a wild body kick that McKendrick sees coming a mile off.
McKendrick tries a head kick but it misses.

McKendrick's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Gardner connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! McKendrick scrambles back to his feet.

McKendrick decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

McKendrick looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
McKendrick is looking to stall here but Gardner recovers full guard.
McKendrick tries to free his leg and advance position but Gardner is retaining full guard.

McKendrick loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
McKendrick wants to pass the guard but Gardner is keeping the position.
Gardner looking for a sweep. Not yet Gardner, not yet.

McKendrick throwing strikes from guard but Gardner blocks nicely.
McKendrick won't allow Gardner to sweep him here.
McKendrick engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Gardner throws a shot to the body.
Gardner throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from McKendrick.

Luke McKendrick is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

McKendrick moves out of range of the body kick from Gardner.

McKendrick closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McKendrick lands in his opponent's guard.
McKendrick works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Luke Gardner has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gardner is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gardner tries to get to full guard but McKendrick has control of the leg.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Luke Gardner.
I think McKendrick has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
