PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Kiedis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kiedis kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Tupac. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Johnny Kiedis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nathan Wood!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wood throws a front kick aimed at Kiedis's knee but Kiedis avoids it well.
Kiedis sizes up Wood with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
A thudding body kick lands there by Kiedis!
Wood throws a leg kick
and Kiedis counters with a good low kick that Wood was not able to check.
Kiedis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Wood moves out of range as Kiedis throws a body kick.
Wood throws a nice inside leg kick.
Kiedis with a jab.
Kiedis tries to score with a low kick but Wood moves his leg out of the way.
Wood tries to bum rush Kiedis with a series of wild strikes but Kiedis uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Wood misses with a kick to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wood avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Wood throws a sloppy head kick and Kiedis moves out of range easily.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Wood. Kiedis shrugs it off though.
Wood wants to clinch.
Wood wants to clinch but Kiedis slips to the side
and Kiedis counters with a slapping leg kick.

Kiedis lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Wood moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Wood throws a front kick aimed at Kiedis's knee but Kiedis avoids it well.
Wood fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kiedis.
Wood wants to clinch up but Kiedis keeps it at a distance.
Kiedis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wood takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Kiedis moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Kiedis looks to score with a jab to the body but Wood is just out of range.
Wood takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Kiedis swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kiedis avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Wood moves into the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Wood.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wood goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Wood.
Wood tries a body shot but Kiedis blocks it.
Wood swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Wood tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Kiedis blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Kiedis breaks from the clinch.
Wood tries to clinch
and Kiedis counters with a nice kick to the body.

Wood gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Kiedis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kiedis throws a head kick but Wood moves out of range.
Kiedis scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Wood doesn't seem bothered though.
Wood lands a nice looking kick to the body. Kiedis takes a step back to recover.
Kiedis takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kiedis on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Wood throws a leg kick but Kiedis sees it coming and moves out of range.
Wood moves to clinch but Kiedis breaks away
and Kiedis counters with a left and a right that stings Wood.
Wood misses with a head kick.
Wood avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Wood tries to close the distance and clinch but Kiedis swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Wood takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Wood walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Wood darts in trying to clinch
and Kiedis counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Wood is lucky that one didn't land flush.


Wood is rocked!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Kiedis, right into the meat.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Wood tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Kiedis counters with a thumping low kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wood throws a leg kick which misses Kiedis's front leg but catches the back leg as Kiedis tries to avoid it.
Kiedis throws a nice outside leg kick.
Kiedis jabs at Wood's body.
Wood moves in looking to clinch but Kiedis pushes him off.
Wood turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Wood throws a chopping leg kick but Kiedis manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Kiedis looks for the body kick but Wood saw that one coming.
Wood checks a leg kick.
Kiedis throws a right and a left that Wood avoids nicely.
Kiedis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Wood tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Kiedis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Wood misses with a body kick.
Kiedis throws a low kick but Wood moves out of range easily.
Wood doesn't manage to clinch there - Kiedis circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Kiedis dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Wood tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kiedis paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kiedis lands an overhand right.


It looks like Nathan Wood has been cut.
Kiedis cracks Wood with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Wood is still on wobbly legs! Can Kiedis finish him?
Wood closes the distance looking to clinch
and Kiedis counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Wood off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Kiedis follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Wood was out before he hit the floor.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Johnny Kiedis!
Johnny Kiedis decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
