PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mills Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Sparrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perry's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Way I Am by Eminem. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mills Perry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Sparrow!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sparrow shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Perry as he avoids it easily.

Perry feints and as Sparrow raises his hands in defense, Perry changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Perry wants to stand but Sparrow has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Perry drops back looking for a leg! Sparrow is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sparrow manages to kick Perry off! Perry jumps back into Sparrow's guard.
Perry thows a big elbow that misses.
Sparrow tries to strike from the bottom.

Perry stands up from guard. Let's bang!
The fight stays on the outside here - Sparrow looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Sparrow closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sparrow lands in his opponent's guard.
Perry keeping moving, preventing Sparrow from controlling successfully.
Sparrow must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Perry working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sparrow doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sparrow manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Perry is breathing heavily.

Sparrow avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sparrow lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Sparrow forces his way into half guard.

Sparrow tries to pass the half guard into mount. Perry knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Perry wants to control but Sparrow is keeping busy.

Perry has one foot on Sparrow's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Perry moves in looking to clinch but Sparrow pushes him off.

Perry changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sparrow looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Perry wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sparrow, who protects the arm well.
Perry moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Perry trying to control the position but Sparrow is working away.

Perry tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Perry has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Sparrow tries to buck Perry off but Perry is having none of it.

Sparrow is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Perry is looking to take a break and control but Sparrow is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Perry working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Perry advances to full mount.

Perry is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mills Perry dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Perry shoots in but no luck this time.
Perry tries for a takedown but Sparrow circles away easily

and Sparrow counters with a shoot takedown. Perry fights it but they end up in guard.

Mills Perry overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Perry is on top in guard.

Perry wants to control from the top but Sparrow keeps moving.

Perry passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Perry wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sparrow keeps working.
Perry moves into full mount!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Perry with a couple of short strikes.


It looks like Jack Sparrow has been cut.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Perry cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Perry looking to finish Sparrow with some ground and pound. This is bad for Sparrow!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Perry in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.


Sparrow is rocked!

Perry quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Perry but it's paid off an Sparrow is forced to tap! Nice work by Perry.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mills Perry!
