And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jose Aldo !
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jams fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Aldo manages to avoid it.

Aldo looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jams wants to sweep here but Aldo controlling him for the moment.
Jams keeping moving, preventing Aldo from controlling successfully.

Aldo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jams is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Aldo , into his guard.

Jams knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Aldo on the ground.

Aldo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jams is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Aldo , into his guard.
Aldo is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Aldo keeping moving, preventing Jams from controlling successfully.
Aldo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jams is one step ahead there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jams trying to control but Aldo is working from the bottom.
Aldo wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Jams drives through with a takedown into Aldo 's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Aldo pushes Jams off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Aldo shoots for a double leg takedown but Jams sprawls well. He's pushed Aldo 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Jams shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Aldo is trying to escape the mount.
Aldo tries to hold on but Jams postures up.
Aldo is desperately trying to improve his position but Jams has a good base and remains in mount.
Jams avoids the attempt from Aldo to control.
Jams looking to control but Aldo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Aldo is looking to improve his position but Jams isn't that keen on the idea.
Jams wants to stand but Aldo is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Aldo wants to control but Jams is having none of it.
Aldo gets back to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Aldo can do anything to dispel that myth.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jams missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Aldo tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jams wants to advance to full mount but Aldo doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jose Aldo dominated that round.
That's time! Jams's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


The fight stays on the outside here - Jams looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jams manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Aldo on his heels. He'll look to pass Aldo 's guard now, I'm sure.
Aldo throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Aldo wants to sweep but no luck.

Aldo scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Jams pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Jams shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Aldo pushes Jams off and scrambles back to his feet.

Jams throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Aldo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jams is in Aldo 's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Aldo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Aldo lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Aldo passes to side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Aldo has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Jams is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Aldo yanks on the arm and Jams is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Aldo .

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jose Aldo !
