PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rodolph Austin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Austin comes into the arena with I'm Coming Home. blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jim Scott!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, William Gold and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott fails with a takedown attempt.
Scott will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A head kick by Austin misses
and Scott counters with a nice low kick that buckles Austin's knee momentarily.
Austin misses with a head kick.
Austin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Austin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Scott.
Rodolph Austin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Scott.
Scott takes a swing at Austin's ribcage but misses.
Scott shoots in looking for a takedown. Austin tries to sprawl out of it but Scott keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Austin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Scott counters with a solid body kick.
Scott misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Austin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Austin avoids the body shot from Scott.
Scott defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Austin.

Scott tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Austin darts in and clinches Scott up against the cage.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Austin blocks an uppercut.

Austin is trying to push Scott away but Scott has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
A frustrated look appears on Scott's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Scott is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Austin is defending well.
Austin goes for a takedown in the clinch but Scott prevents it.
Austin misses with a hook to the ribs.
Austin slows down the pace here.
Scott tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Scott tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Austin smiles and moves away.

Austin drives through and clinches with Scott against the cage.
Scott is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Scott tries to pull guard but Austin won't allow it.
Scott has had enough of the clinch but Austin keeps him there for the moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Austin prevents the takedown attempt.
Scott keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Austin's efforts to push away.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Austin.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jim Scott will probably get the nod.

Austin blocks a low kick nicely.

Scott throws a right and a left that Austin avoids nicely.
Scott shoots for a takedown but Austin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Scott misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Austin connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Scott's hands.
Scott throws a looping overhand right but Austin ducks down to avoid it.
Rodolph Austin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Austin dives in and grabs Scott's left leg, looking for a takedown. Scott pushes down on Austin's head and hops out.
Austin throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Austin clinches.
Austin has had enough of the clinch but Scott keeps him there for the moment.
Scott tries to pull guard but Austin won't allow it.
Scott is breathing heavily.
Scott lands with a light punch inside.

Scott is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Austin is defending well for now.
A frustrated look appears on Scott's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Scott gets control of Austin's arms and successfully pulls guard. Scott will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Austin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Scott was covering up waiting for the punch and Austin finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Austin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Scott swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Scott throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Austin's waist but Austin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Scott off to one side.
Austin fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Austin lands a lovely overhand right.
Austin throws a head kick but Scott moves out of range.
Austin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Scott pinned against the cage. Scott gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Scott throws a wild body kick that Austin sees coming a mile off.
Scott shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Scott throws a right and a left that Austin avoids nicely.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Scott is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Austin to keep the fight standing.

Austin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Austin just leaning against Scott, taking a breather.
Scott tries to throw a body punch but Austin avoids it by throwing Scott back against the cage.
Austin tries to circle away but Scott has him pinned against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well Austin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
