Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hughe Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughe Kane has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hughe Kane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kane is fending him off so far but Alves persists. Nope, Kane circles away and we're back to standing.
Kane throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Alves tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kane is in Alves's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Kane stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alves swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Alves is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kane has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Kane lands a couple of elbows.
Kane slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Alves wants to stand and escape but Kane is having none of it.
Alves is trying to control the position but Kane postures up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Thiago Alves hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Alves gets tackled into the cage by Kane. Kane maintains the clinch.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Alves has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kane is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Hughe Kane.

and Kane holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Kane has clasped his hands together around Alves's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kane is working Alves over with some ground and pound from side control.
A lull in the action here as Kane stalls from top position.

Check out the look on Kane's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Kane remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Kane really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kane lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kane slows the pace down.
Kane works to advance to full mount. Alves defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kane is landing with some decent strikes but Alves is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee asks Kane politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Kane prefers to stall for the moment though.

Kane is concentrating on defense, preventing Alves from advancing position.
Alves wants to free his trapped foot but Kane is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Kane has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Kane wants to sweep here but Alves controlling him for the moment.
Kane will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Alves wants to control from the top but Kane keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Hughe Kane just wasn't active enough.

Kane is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Alves can do to turn this around?

Kane creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Alves on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Kane seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Alves for as long as he can get away with.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kane is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Alves is trying to escape and Kane transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Alves is forced to tap! Nice work there by Kane! Very nice indeed!
