PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Josh Holder Mills (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Belcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Josh Holder Mills has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Josh Holder Mills seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Holder Mills!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Belcher!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Belcher darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Mills might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mills is trying to stand up here but Belcher is controlling him well.
Mills wants to improve his position but Belcher is controlling well.
Belcher sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Belcher is pressing down on Mills's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mills is holding on for now.

Belcher is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Belcher looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Belcher throwing shots but Mills is blocking nicely.

Belcher is keen to just control but Mills is a slippery customer.
Belcher working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Belcher really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mills. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Belcher is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mills sees it coming and defends easily.

Belcher thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mills keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Mills is pressing down on Belcher's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Belcher is working Mills over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Belcher throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mills works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Mills has his foot on Belcher's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Belcher works his way back into a safe position though.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Bob Belcher hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Mills tries to clinch
and Belcher counters with a series of strikes. Mills will be more careful next time no doubt.
Mills throws a leg kick but Belcher sees it coming and moves out of range.

Mills gets caught flat footed, as Belcher shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Belcher lands a couple of digs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Belcher is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Belcher cracks Mills with a solid left hand.
Belcher wants to control from the top but Mills keeps moving.

Mills tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Belcher postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Belcher missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Belcher distracts Mills with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Belcher loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Belcher accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Belcher must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Belcher throws a strike but Mills rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Mills will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Belcher postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mills is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Belcher, into his guard.
Belcher wants to stand but Mills is controlling the position.
Mills wants to control from the top but Belcher keeps moving.

Belcher wants to sweep but no luck.
Belcher has his hands on Mills's head, controlling the position.
Mills trying to control the position from guard on top but Belcher is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Josh Holder Mills just wasn't active enough.
Mills closes the distance looking to clinch

and Belcher counters with a shoot takedown. Mills fights it but they end up in guard.
Belcher wants to control from the top but Mills keeps moving.
Belcher working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mills is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Belcher is trying to trip Mills. He has hold of a leg but Mills is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Belcher persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Belcher is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Mills trying to keep a closed guard but Belcher is proving a slippery customer.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bob Belcher showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Belcher stands up out of the half guard.
Oh Mills is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mills get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Mills stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the cage but Belcher runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:22 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Bob Belcher!
