Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Van Gogh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Kennedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Van Gogh's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Carl Orff - O Fortuna. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Vincent Van Gogh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, George Kennedy!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kennedy misses with a low kick as Van Gogh jumps back.
Van Gogh throws a body punch but Kennedy moves out of range.
Kennedy lets loose with a powerful body kick. Van Gogh will feel that in the morning.

Van Gogh has taken the fight to the clinch.
Van Gogh throws a punch but it's blocked by Kennedy.
Kennedy misses with some punches.
Van Gogh tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Kennedy's elbow.
Van Gogh blocks an uppercut.
Van Gogh is working Kennedy over against the cage.

Kennedy ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kennedy no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Vincent Van Gogh just wasn't active enough.
Van Gogh misses with a hook. Kennedy ducked under it nicely.

Kennedy throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Van Gogh was covering up waiting for the punch and Kennedy finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Kennedy avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kennedy throws a strike but Van Gogh rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Van Gogh is pushing down on Kennedy's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kennedy is fighting to maintain full guard but Van Gogh has managed to sneak the leg through.
Kennedy is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Kennedy avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Van Gogh.
Kennedy wants to control but Van Gogh is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Van Gogh is keen to just control but Kennedy is a slippery customer.
Kennedy is doing well to control the position and prevent Van Gogh from advancing to side control.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by George Kennedy.

Vincent Van Gogh is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Kennedy moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Van Gogh takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Kennedy throws a big shot that misses.
Kennedy throws a leg kick but Van Gogh sees it coming and moves out of range.
Some bone on bone action there as Van Gogh checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Van Gogh ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Kennedy lands a head kick!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kennedy chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Van Gogh can pounce on him.
Kennedy fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Van Gogh avoids it really well and circles away.
A looping hook to the body misses from Van Gogh. Kennedy does a little dance to reset his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Van Gogh ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kennedy moves away.
Kennedy lands with a thumping leg kick.
Van Gogh lands with a hook. Kennedy tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Van Gogh lands a nice shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but George Kennedy will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Van Gogh misses with a straight right.
Kennedy lands with a thumping leg kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Van Gogh crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kennedy - the referee stops the clock and Van Gogh gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kennedy. Van Gogh manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Van Gogh avoids the head kick by Kennedy.
Kennedy throws a head kick but Van Gogh moves out of range.
Van Gogh tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

and Kennedy counters with a nice leg kick.
Van Gogh on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Kennedy gets a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kennedy is looking for a kimura here.

Kennedy is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Van Gogh sees it coming and defends easily.

Kennedy not doing much here.
Kennedy is just content to waste time from the top position. Van Gogh takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Kennedy missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Van Gogh is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Kennedy trying to control the position from guard on top but Van Gogh is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kennedy tries to free his leg and advance position but Van Gogh is retaining full guard.
Kennedy looking to sit in guard and control but Van Gogh gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Kennedy wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Van Gogh is now in half guard.
Kennedy wants to control the action here but instead Van Gogh manages to pass to full mount!

Kennedy avoids a series of strikes thrown by Van Gogh.
Van Gogh pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Kennedy is looking to get to half guard.

Kennedy is refusing to be controlled, as Van Gogh sits in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Van Gogh is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kennedy is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

George Kennedy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Van Gogh tries to clinch there but Kennedy circles away.

Kennedy shoots in looking for a takedown. Van Gogh tries to sprawl out of it but Kennedy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Van Gogh manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
George Kennedy seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Kennedy takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Nice body punch from Van Gogh.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kennedy wants to land a leg kick but Van Gogh is out of range.
Van Gogh is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Kennedy misses with a body shot.
Van Gogh uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kennedy has time to react.
Nice uppercut there from Van Gogh.
Van Gogh bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kennedy's head backwards.


Kennedy is rocked!
Van Gogh lands with a nice body kick.
Kennedy is still on wobbly legs! Can Van Gogh finish him?
Van Gogh cracks Kennedy with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Kennedy tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Van Gogh pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Kennedy is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vincent Van Gogh!
