Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Basit Ali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Jom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jim Jom will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ali shoots for a takedown but Jom saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jom stalks Ali and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ali's face. Ali staggers backwards, shaken.

It looks like Basit Ali has been cut.
Ali on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Ali avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ali takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Jom lands with a right hand.
Donk. Jom catches Ali right on the button with a cross.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jom throws a series of punches but Ali avoids them all with ease.
Jom thows a body shot but no joy.
Ali tries for a takedown but Jom sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Jom ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ali moves away.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Jom is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ali has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ali tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jom swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ali tries to move into range but Jom moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Jom throws a nice looking combination but Ali bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

The fighters circling - Jom throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Jom bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Jom sizes up Ali with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Ali tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jom paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Ali looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jom tries to kick Ali off but Ali keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Jom is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Jom is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ali might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ali postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jom is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ali, into his guard.

Ali fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ali shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jom sprawls well. Jom wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ali gets slowly back to his feet.
Jom lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Jom ducks under a wild hook from Ali.
Sloppy strikes from Ali. Those never looked like landing.
Ali tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jom catches Ali with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Jom looks to score with a jab to the body but Ali is just out of range.
Jom bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ali's head.

Jom slaps away a takedown attempt from Ali, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Jom rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ali moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Jom counters with a crisp one two that drops Ali! Jom thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Ali to his feet! Ali is in big trouble!
