These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

It looks like Sunny Balboa has been cut.
Balboa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has West pinned against the cage. West gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
West lands a nice shot to the body.
Wolf West seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Balboa tries to close the distance and clinch but West swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Balboa ducks under a wild hook from West.
Balboa lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but West circles away quickly and effectively.

West shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than West was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
West looking to control but Balboa is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
West looking to finish Balboa with some ground and pound. This is bad for Balboa!

West trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Balboa is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
West prevents Balboa from getting the reversal.

West looking to control and managing it successfully.
West wants to control the pace but Balboa is squirming around nicely.
Balboa tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Balboa wants to hold on but West pushes him away.
Balboa on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Balboa tries to get out of the position.
West can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Balboa is looking to escape.
Balboa is desperately trying to improve his position but West has a good base and remains in mount.
Balboa is bucking up trying to escape but West cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
West pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

West is landing with some decent strikes but Balboa is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Oh Balboa is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Balboa wants to hold on but West pushes him away.
West postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Balboa looks a forlorn figure.
West loads up with a big shot that hurts Balboa! He's pulled West in close but West has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Balboa survive? More strikes from West and Balboa is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!
