Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bittor Xavier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sho Shinjo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Xavier comes to the cage accompanied by Jane's Addiction- Mountain Song. Shinjo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Theme of Sho. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bittor Xavier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sho Shinjo!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shinjo looks to land a left hand but Xavier moved out of range nicely.
Shinjo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Shinjo gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Shinjo scores with a nice hook to the head.
Shinjo misses with a hook to the ribs.
Shinjo misses with the head strike.
Xavier blocks an elbow strike from Shinjo.
Shinjo throws a punch but it's blocked by Xavier.
Xavier has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Shinjo after a bit of a struggle.
Xavier jumps guard and drags Shinjo to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Shinjo is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Xavier has his foot on Shinjo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shinjo works his way back into a safe position though.

Shinjo is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Xavier has managed to free his arm - good work.

Shinjo is keen to just control but Xavier is a slippery customer.

Shinjo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Xavier swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

BOOM! Shinjo connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Xavier is bucking up trying to escape but Shinjo cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Xavier wants to control but Shinjo is having none of it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Shinjo is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Shinjo misses the jab.
Shinjo throws a leg kick which misses Xavier's front leg but catches the back leg as Xavier tries to avoid it.
Xavier dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Xavier throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Shinjo stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sho Shinjo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Xavier takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Xavier walks into a left hand.
No luck for Xavier with that takedown attempt.

and Xavier counters with a left and a right that stings Shinjo.

Some bone on bone action there as Xavier checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bittor Xavier. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Xavier changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Shinjo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Xavier is pressing down on Shinjo's thigh, looking to free his foot. Shinjo is holding on for now.

Xavier looking to sit in guard and control but Shinjo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Xavier has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Shinjo is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Xavier.

Shinjo stalks Xavier and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Xavier's face. Xavier staggers backwards, shaken.
Shinjo throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Xavier on the side of the head.

Sho Shinjo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Shinjo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
