Bookem comes to the cage accompanied by Solitaire Unraveling. Birmiski has chosen I'm Back - T.I as his entrance music. Ari Birmiski has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Birmiski slips a jab from Bookem.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Birmiski, right into the meat.
Birmiski ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bookem moves away.
Birmiski shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bookem as he jumps to the side.
Bookem tries to bum rush Birmiski with a series of wild strikes but Birmiski uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Birmiski misses with a takedown attempt - Bookem sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Birmiski tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Birmiski sizes up Bookem with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Bookem thows a left - swing and a miss!
Bookem staying out of range there.
Birmiski wants to clinch up but Bookem keeps it at a distance.

Birmiski connects with a body shot that sends Bookem's belly button to the back.
Birmiski throws a head kick but Bookem moves out of range.
Birmiski keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Bookem.
Bookem lands a two punch combo.
Birmiski displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bookem throws out the jab.
Birmiski tries to clinch up but Bookem circles away and keeps his distance.
Bookem walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Bookem misses with a leg kick.
Bookem scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Birmiski is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bookem's half guard.
Bookem is looking to improve his position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Birmiski accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bookem is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Birmiski is aware though and is defending well.

Bookem lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Birmiski!
Bookem has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Birmiski's face.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Bookem cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Birmiski is rocked!
Bookem loads up with a big shot that hurts Birmiski! He's pulled Bookem in close but Bookem has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Birmiski survive? More strikes from Bookem and Birmiski is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!
