Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jose Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quinto Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva wants to clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Connor.

Silva moves into the clinch.
Silva comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Silva breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Silva throws a leg kick which misses Connor's front leg but catches the back leg as Connor tries to avoid it.
Connor tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Silva swivels and escapes.
Connor tries for a takedown but Silva sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jose Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quinto Connor.
Silva throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Connor.

Silva fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Connor has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Silva throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Connor moves away from the strike by Silva.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Connor decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Connor perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Silva throws a leg kick but Connor moved away.
Silva misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Connor tries to keep at a distance but Silva has taken the fight into the clinch.
Connor drops down looking for an ankle pick but Silva pulls his leg out and moves away.
Silva is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Silva goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Some bone on bone action there as Connor checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Connor bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Connor has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Silva after a bit of a struggle.

Silva lands a high kick!
Silva fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Connor.
Silva lands a leg kick that knocks Connor off balance momentarily.
Silva tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Silva lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Silva closes the distance and pushes Connor back into the cage.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Connor is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Silva pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Connor keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Silva's efforts to push away.

Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Connor swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Silva fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Connor shoots in looking for a takedown but Silva manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Connor's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Connor's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Silva connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Connor scrambles back to his feet.
Connor will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Connor shoots for a double leg takedown but Silva sprawls well. He's pushed Connor's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Connor uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Silva.
Silva stuffs the takedown attempt from Connor. Connor gets slowly back to his feet.
Connor's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Silva lands with a slapping head kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Silva wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Connor has him pressed against the cage.

Connor has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Silva regains guard immediately.

Silva is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Silva throws the kick towards the body but Connor avoids it.

Silva is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Connor can do to turn this around?
Connor goes for a takedown attempt but Silva pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

and Connor counters with a nice double leg into side control. Silva won't be happy with that.
This has been an exciting period of action!
