Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Silva Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves comes to the cage accompanied by Blue Stahli-ULTRAnumb. Silva Diaz will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diaz darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Diaz slows the pace down in half guard.
Diaz is keen to just control but Alves is a slippery customer.
Alves is looking to escape.
Alves tries to roll over but Diaz keeps him under control.
Diaz wants to free his trapped foot but Alves is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Alves pushes Diaz off looking to stand but Diaz dives back in and keeps control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alves has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Diaz is working away from the top position though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Diaz fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Alves looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Diaz keeps control of Alves as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Alves pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Diaz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Alves's guard.

Diaz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Alves's waist but Alves gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Diaz off to one side.

Alves blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Alves escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Diaz fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Alves to the ground. Diaz is now in Alves's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Silva Diaz hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown but Alves shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Alves ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Diaz moves away.
Alves is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Diaz's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Alves sprawls well. Alves wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet.
