Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike Ekim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gideon Draper!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Paulo Santos and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ekim swinging wildly here.
Ekim throws a big shot that misses.
Draper will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Draper moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Ekim throws a head kick that misses.
Ekim tries a head kick but it misses.
Draper paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Draper shoots in and bounces Ekim off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Ekim is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Draper is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Draper advances to half guard.
Draper tries to pass to full mount but Ekim defends it.
Draper not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Draper is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ekim doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Draper.
Draper trying to control the action but Ekim is working from the bottom.

Draper is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Ground and pound from Draper.
Draper working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Draper moves into full mount! Ekim won't be happy about that!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Draper landing punches.

Ekim is in a horrible position here. Draper smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Draper lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Ekim is rocked!
Draper has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Draper is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Ekim is forced to tap! Great finish!
