The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nelson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Clausen's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Nelson lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Clausen has his feet on Nelson's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Clausen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Clausen has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Nelson's face.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Clausen is stalling here. Nelson is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Clausen seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Nelson has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Clausen can do anything to dispel that myth.

Clausen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nelson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nelson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Clausen off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Clausen tries to close the distance and clinch but Nelson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Clausen pivots, looking for a leg kick but Nelson is out of range and Clausen settles back down.

Emil Clausen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Nelson leaves Clausen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
