Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rauno Viittala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walker comes to the cage accompanied by The Doors - Peace Frog. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jack Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Rauno Viittala!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Viittala wants to clinch but Walker slips to the side
and Walker counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Viittala tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Walker counters with a straight right hand.
Viittala blocks a head kick by Walker.

Viittala clinches with his opponent.
Viittala trying to control the position but instead, Walker has worked for underhooks and has pushed Viittala into the cage.
Walker can't break the clinch.
Viittala working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Walker misses with a knee strike.
Viittala working hard to break the clinch.
Walker is trying to pull guard but Viittala has him pressed against the cage.
Viittala is trying to maintain a safe position but Walker gets an underhook and turns Viittala into the cage.
Viittala lands a right hand that snaps the head of Walker backwards.
Viittala managing to block the knees to the body from Walker.

Walker tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Walker wants to take the fight to the mat but Viittala manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Nice body punch from Walker.
Viittala misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Walker breaks the clinch.
Walker tests Viittala's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Viittala fails in his attempt to clinch.
No luck for Walker with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Walker. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Walker counters with a nice double leg into side control. Viittala won't be happy with that.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Viittala defending against the ground and pound.
Viittala gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Walker trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Walker landing punches.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Viittala tries to hold on but Walker postures up.
Walker connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Viittala working to try and regain half guard.

Walker jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Viittala is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Viittala and Walker has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Viittala explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Viittala tries to close the distance and clinch but Walker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Walker throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fight stays on the outside here - Viittala looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Viittala instigates a clinch.
Viittala tries to work over Walker's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Viittala misses with a hook to the ribs.

Walker gets control of Viittala's arms and successfully pulls guard. Walker will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Viittala stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Rauno Viittala seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Walker shoots in and drives through. Viittala sprawls well.
Viittala tries to clinch but Walker is having none of it.
Good exchange - Walker coming out on top.

Walker misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Viittala.
Viittala closes the distance but Walker moves to the side
and Walker counters with a left and a right that stings Viittala.
Viittala tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Walker manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Walker throws a hook but Viittala avoids it easily.
A bone on bone clash there as Viittala blocks the leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Walker counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Walker prevents Viittala from standing back up.
Walker seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Viittala does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Walker dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Walker lands with a cross.
Viittala tries to close the distance and clinch but Walker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Walker thuds his right hand into Viittala's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Viittala closes the distance looking to clinch
and Walker counters with a series of strikes. Viittala will be more careful next time no doubt.
Walker scores with a kick to the midsection.
Viittala wants to clinch.
Walker swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Viittala.
Viittala shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Viittala tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Walker counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Viittala gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Walker sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Walker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Viittala swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Viittala is looking to stand up but Walker isn't so interested in that idea.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Walker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Walker working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Walker wants to control from the top but Viittala keeps moving.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Walker circles away from the clinch attempt.
Viittala closes the distance but Walker moves to the side

and Walker counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Walker not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Walker thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Walker seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Walker is trying to work for a kimura but Viittala is defending well.

Walker prevents Viittala from standing back up.
Walker missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Walker seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Walker stops Viittala from getting back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Walker is looking to take a break and control but Viittala is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Walker throws a hook to the side of Viittala's head but Viittala sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Viittala misses with a takedown attempt
and Walker counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Viittala tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Walker counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Viittala shoots in looking for a takedown. Walker tries to sprawl out of it but Viittala keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Walker manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Viittala moves to clinch but Walker breaks away

and Walker counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Viittala!
Viittala's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Viittala takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Viittala is still in real trouble! Can Walker finish him?

Walker avoids the attempt from Viittala to control.
Viittala seems to have recovered his senses.
Walker lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Viittala is trying to escape the mount.

Walker has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Walker cracks Viittala with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Viittala avoids a series of strikes thrown by Walker.
Jack Walker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Viittala is looking to improve his position but Walker isn't that keen on the idea.
Rauno Viittala has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Walker tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Walker looking to control but Viittala is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Viittala is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Jack Walker is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Walker can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Viittala is looking to escape.
Walker avoids the attempt from Viittala to control.
Walker wants to control the pace but Viittala is squirming around nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jack Walker showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Walker, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
