PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joseph Sekyere (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sekyere comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Juicy-Biggy Smalls kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Joseph Sekyere is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Adams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joseph Sekyere!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Jonathan Paton and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sekyere throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sekyere throws a sloppy head kick and Adams moves out of range easily.
Sekyere tries to land a front kick but Adams steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Sekyere gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Sekyere throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Sekyere will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Sekyere wants to land a leg kick but Adams is out of range.
Adams lands with a kick to the temple. Sekyere shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Sekyere closes this distance looking for a takedown but Adams circles away.
Sekyere shoots in looking for a takedown but Adams manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sekyere's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Chris Adams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joseph Sekyere.

Adams is looking to stand up but Sekyere isn't so interested in that idea.

Adams bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Sekyere shoots in for a takedown but Adams shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Adams uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Sekyere has time to react.

Adams is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sekyere defends well.

Adams is working an open guard so Sekyere takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Sekyere pushes Adams off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Adams is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Sekyere can't fight it off and eventually Adams manages to take the fight to the floor. Sekyere looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
