Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Sagoth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frank O Monagahan!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Saam Ante and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
O Monagahan throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sagoth.
O Monagahan falls off balance throwing a combination

and Sagoth counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Sagoth missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
O Monagahan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sagoth. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sagoth wants to control but O Monagahan is keeping him busy.
Sagoth seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The ref stands the fighters back up. John Sagoth wasn't doing enough on the ground.
O Monagahan circles away from the clinch attempt.
O Monagahan misses with a combination
and Sagoth counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Sagoth throws a right hand that O Monagahan ducks under and follows up with a left that O Monagahan also avoids with ease.
Sagoth wants to clinch up but O Monagahan keeps it at a distance.
Sagoth closes the distance and clinches up with O Monagahan, looking for a takedown. Sagoth pushes O Monagahan against the cage but O Monagahan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sagoth changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. O Monagahan tries to avoid it but Sagoth manages to keep hold of a leg and drag O Monagahan to the ground. O Monagahan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Sagoth is trying to keep O Monagahan in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sagoth has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes O Monagahan off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Frank O Monagahan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

O Monagahan throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
O Monagahan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
O Monagahan slaps away a takedown attempt from Sagoth, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Sagoth. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
O Monagahan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
O Monagahan looks gassed!
O Monagahan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
O Monagahan throws a nice looking combination but Sagoth bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
O Monagahan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sagoth moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Sagoth bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Sagoth thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

O Monagahan prevents Sagoth from improving position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
O Monagahan misses with an elbow from the bottom.

Sagoth wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by O Monagahan, who protects the arm well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
O Monagahan seems a little lost for a moment, as Sagoth dominates the positioning.
Sagoth is looking to take a break and control but O Monagahan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Sagoth decides to stand back up. Sagoth steps back and let's O Monagahan get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sagoth shoots for a double leg takedown but O Monagahan sprawls well. He's pushed Sagoth's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
O Monagahan circles away from the clinch attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Sagoth dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


No joy there for O Monagahan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
O Monagahan misses with a combination

and Sagoth moves into the clinch.
Sagoth is looking to take this one to the mat.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for O Monagahan.
O Monagahan wants to break the clinch but can't.
Sagoth crunches a lovely knee into O Monagahan's ribcage.
Sagoth wants to take the fight to the mat but O Monagahan manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
O Monagahan lands an uppercut.
Sagoth landing knees to the head.

Sagoth has O Monagahan pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Sagoth pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending O Monagahan tumbling to the mat - Sagoth dives into O Monagahan's guard.
Sagoth sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed O Monagahan's guard.
O Monagahan is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sagoth looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Sagoth passes the guard and advances to mount!

Sagoth misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
John Sagoth overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sagoth blocks O Monagahan's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
O Monagahan tries to control Sagoth's body but Sagoth pushes him off. O Monagahan squirms to his side and now Sagoth has his back!

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Sagoth's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Sagoth controlling the position well here. O Monagahan rolled but Sagoth kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

John Sagoth dominated that second round.
That's time! Sagoth's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!



Sagoth gets a double leg takedown into O Monagahan's guard.
Sagoth will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
O Monagahan keeping moving, preventing Sagoth from controlling successfully.
Sagoth advances to half guard.
O Monagahan is trying to control but can't.

Sagoth wants to work for an arm triangle but O Monagahan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Sagoth works his way into side control.
O Monagahan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Sagoth has hold of O Monagahan's arm. He's looking for a kimura. O Monagahan seems comfortable defending it but Sagoth has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! O Monagahan is real pain and he's forced to tap out! O Monagahan is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Sagoth couldn't care less - he's delighted!
