PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Luis Chalas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Gott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ben Gott was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Luis Chalas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ben Gott!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gott dives in and scores a takedown into Chalas's guard.

Gott gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Gott closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gott lands in his opponent's guard.

Chalas tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Gott manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A left and a right from Chalas both land. Nice combination.
Luis Chalas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Gott feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Gott wants to pass the guard but Chalas is keeping the position.
Chalas not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Chalas tries to strike from the bottom.
Chalas wants to stand up but Gott is controlling him.

Chalas looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Chalas has a closed guard, preventing Gott from standing up.
Gott trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Gott drops back looking for a leg! Chalas is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Chalas manages to kick Gott off! Gott jumps back into Chalas's guard.

Chalas looking for a guillotine here but Gott defends easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Chalas wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Chalas wants to get back to his feet but Gott is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Gott is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Chalas wants to control but Gott passes easily into half guard.
Chalas trying to control from the bottom.

Gott seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Chalas is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
