PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Redy Falar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David William (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Redy Falar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, David William!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Mauricio Rocha and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Falar stuffs the takedown attempt from William. William gets slowly back to his feet.
William is trying hard to land a takedown here. Falar sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
William keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
William throws a leg kick that misses.
William dives in and grabs Falar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Falar pushes down on William's head and hops out.
Redy Falar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David William.
Falar shoots in but William avoids the takedown attempt easily.
William tries a head kick but it misses.
Falar shoots for a takedown but William saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

William clinches up with Falar and pushes him back against the cage.

William is trying to break the clinch but Falar has him pressed against the cage.
William is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Falar gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
William wants a takedown.
William tries for a takedown. No joy.
William is pressed up against the cage. Falar has hold of a leg and is looking to drag William down to the mat. William avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Falar shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Falar throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around William's waist but William gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Falar off to one side.
William shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Falar as he avoids it easily.
Falar shoots in looking for a takedown. William tries to sprawl out of it but Falar keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. William manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
William throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Falar.
Falar is breathing heavily.
William shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Falar as he jumps to the side.

William closes the distance and clinches.
William wants to break free but Falar has control.
Falar gets underhooks to prevent William's takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Falar is trying to work for a single leg takedown but William pulls him back up using the underhooks.
William trying to land knees to the body.
William fails to pull the fight into his guard.
William wants a takedown.
William gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Falar.
Falar really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

William pulls guard effortlessly.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Falar preventing the sweep.
William bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Falar's guard.

Falar looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Falar is looking for a triangle but William pushes his legs off easily.

Falar looking for subs off his back but William has passed one foot through into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Falar tries to roll over but William keeps him under control.
William really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Falar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but David William will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


William is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
William fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Falar checks it well.
William changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Falar tries to avoid it but William manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Falar to the ground. Falar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

William clinches.
William tries to pull guard but Falar forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

William turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
William scores with punches from side control.
Falar manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Falar is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so William is just riding it out for now. Falar eventually gives up the hold.
Falar thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed William's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
William is trying is best to control the position here.

Falar is working for a submission of some sort.

Falar is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. William doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Falar.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

William pushes Falar off looking to stand but Falar dives back in and keeps control.
William is trying to maintain the position but Falar is very close to passing his half guard.

Falar is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Falar is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Falar is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Falar prevents William from improving his position.
Falar wants to free his trapped foot but William is holding on for dear life with his legs.

William is looking to improve his position.

Falar is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, William has managed to free his arm - good work.
William gets full guard.
William tries to strike from the bottom.

Falar drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but William manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Falar has William in his guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David William showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


William shoots for a takedown but Falar saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Falar shoots for a double leg takedown but William sprawls well. He's pushed Falar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
William shoots in looking for a takedown but Falar manages to keep the fight standing, pushing William's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
William shoots in and drives through. Falar sprawls well.
Redy Falar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David William.
Falar slaps away a takedown attempt from William, before circling back to the center of the mat.
William defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Falar.
William shoots in for a double leg but Falar sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

William stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and William wants it to stay on the feet.

William moves into range and clinches up with Falar.
William wants a takedown.
Falar wants a takedown.
William changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Falar fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Falar misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

William throws out a leg kick but Falar moves out of range and William only half commits.

William closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

William has hold of one of Falar's legs. Falar is fighting the takedown attempt but William gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Falar is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. William is aware though and is defending well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

William has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
William throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Falar tries to reverse the position but William maintains control.
Falar is trying to reverse the position but instead William has taken his back - oops!
William has the hooks in. Falar is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Redy Falar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

William is riding his opponent, not letting Falar buck him off.
Redy Falar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
William is trying to stick to Falar's back but Falar is turning into William. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in William's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Falar.

Falar thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Falar throwing strikes but missing.
David William is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Falar has gone for a leg lock! William slips out almost immediately though and dives into Falar's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to David William.
I've got William winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
