PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ultimate Warrior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vossie Vos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ultimate Warrior!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Vossie Vos!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Josh West and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vos tries to land a front kick but Warrior steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Warrior pushes Vos away with a front kick.
Warrior moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Vos misses with a two punch combination.
Warrior looks to land a combination. Vos sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Vos rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Warrior moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Vos's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Warrior connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Vos scrambles back to his feet.
Warrior steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Vos.
Ultimate Warrior seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Warrior lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Warrior jabs Vos right on the nose. Vos blinks but takes it well.
Warrior throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Vos counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Vos.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Vos showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Vos drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Vos jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vos is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Vossie Vos.
Warrior throws a combination that misses

and Vos counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Vos controls from within his opponent's guard.

Vos gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Vos blocks a head kick by Warrior.
Warrior looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Warrior pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Warrior misses with a double jab.

Vos instigates a clinch.
Vos using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Warrior has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Vos breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Warrior tries a head kick but it misses.
Warrior swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Warrior is breathing heavily.
Vos blocks a head kick by Warrior.

Vos getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Warrior throws a body punch but Vos moves out of range.
Ultimate Warrior is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Vos misses with a body shot.

and Vos counters with a nice body shot.
Vos throws a head kick that misses.
Warrior rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Vos counters with a shoot takedown. Warrior fights it but they end up in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Warrior wants to stand and escape but Vos is having none of it.
Vos is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Vossie Vos will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Warrior bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Warrior misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Warrior scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Warrior lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Warrior digs a good body shot into Vos's ribs.
Sloppy strikes from Warrior. Those never looked like landing.
A nice leg kick lands there from Warrior.

Vos forces Warrior back against the cage and clinches.
Vos lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Warrior backwards.
A bit of stalling here from Vos.

Vos tries to pull guard but Warrior holds him up against the cage and eventually Vos drops back down to his feet.
Warrior prevents a body shot from Vos.
Warrior is trying to break free.
Warrior gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Vos.
Vos is trying to pull guard but Warrior has him pressed against the cage.
Ultimate Warrior has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vossie Vos.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Vos throws an elbow that misses.
Vos is trying to break free.
Vos has had enough of the clinch but Warrior keeps him there for the moment.

Vos escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Vos rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Warrior counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Vos thinking.
A jab from Warrior finds it's way through Vos's defenses.
Vos is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Warrior lands a glancing blow to the side of Vos's head.
Vos is looking to clinch but Warrior is avoiding it.
Warrior throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Vos feints and as Warrior raises his hands in defense, Vos changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Vos forces his way into half guard.
Vos trying to mount his opponent but Warrior defends it.
Vos looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Warrior with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Vos perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vossie Vos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Warrior scores with a head kick. Vos tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Warrior takes a swing at Vos's ribcage but misses.
Warrior misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Vos with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Warrior to score with a decent uppercut.
Warrior rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Vos moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Vos counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Vos stands and steps away. Warrior gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Good leg kick by Warrior there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Warrior misses with a two punch combination.

Vos moves into the clinch.
Vos tries to pull guard but Warrior won't allow it.
Warrior letting Vos take a breather here.
Warrior working hard to break the clinch.
Warrior gets underhooks to prevent Vos's takedown attempt.

Vos gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Vos is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Warrior sees it coming and defends easily.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Vossie Vos wasn't active enough on the ground.
Warrior misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Some wild striking there from Vos.
Warrior throws a head kick that misses.
Ultimate Warrior is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Warrior throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Vos scores with a shot to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Vos. Warrior does a little dance to reset his feet.

Danga de danga de dang - Warrior scores with a four punch combination!

Vos closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Warrior did well to prevent Vos getting side control.
Vos passes the guard and advances to mount!

Vos working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vos takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

And that's the end of the fight!
Vossie Vos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Vos winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
