The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That kick from Lumpio tenderised Gomi's leg. Gomi is trying to keep his angry face on.
Gomi shoots for a double leg takedown but Lumpio sprawls well. He's pushed Gomi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Gomi doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Lumpio counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Lumpio lands with a slapping head kick.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Lumpio, right into the meat.
Toshi Gomi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lumpio throws a leg kick which misses Gomi's front leg but catches the back leg as Gomi tries to avoid it.
Gomi fails with the takedown
and Lumpio counters with a slapping leg kick.

Lumpio lands a front kick.
Lumpio throws a nice inside leg kick.

Lumpio closes the distance and clinches.

Oh Gomi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lumpio dips a shoulder and cracks Gomi with a mighty uppercut! Gomi falls back against the cage and Lumpio unloads with a barrage of strikes! Gomi is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Lumpio screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
