PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Hayes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Shepard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that John Shepard was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan Hayes!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Shepard!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Franklyn Lucas and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shepard avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
No joy there for Hayes, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Shepard pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Shepard does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Shepard drops his hands momentarily and Hayes takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Shepard ducks under a wild hook from Hayes.
Hayes cracks Shepard with a good jab.
Hayes misses the jab.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Hayes forces Shepard back against the cage and clinches.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hayes breaks from the clinch.
Shepard keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hayes blocks a low kick nicely.
Hayes fails in his attempt to clinch.
Shepard attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Shepard ducks under a wild hook from Hayes.

Hayes feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Shepard sprawling to the canvas! Shepard rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Hayes finish him?!


Shepard is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Shepard takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Shepard is still on wobbly legs! Can Hayes finish him?
Shepard looks gassed!
Hayes lands a jab to Shepard's midsection.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shepard is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Hayes doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Shepard crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Shepard's bad books for that mishap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ryan Hayes!
Ryan Hayes is the new middleweight champion!
An out of breath Ryan Hayes thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
