PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nanos Perdatov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perdatov's entrance music is Muhammad Ali Speech. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nanos Perdatov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ben Askren!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Perdatov enables Askren to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Perdatov manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Askren throwing strikes but missing.
Askren wants to pass the guard but Perdatov is keeping the position.
Askren postures up.
Askren looking to pass the guard.
Askren stands and throws Perdatov's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Askren is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Perdatov is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Perdatov tries to buck Askren off but Askren is having none of it.

Askren looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Perdatov tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Askren wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Askren tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Askren is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Perdatov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Perdatov manages to work his way to half guard, despite Askren's best efforts.

Askren throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Perdatov is doing well to control the position and prevent Askren from advancing to side control.
Perdatov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Perdatov trying to control from the bottom.
Askren tries to pass the half guard into mount. Perdatov knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Askren wants to work for an arm triangle but Perdatov is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Perdatov tries to hold on but Askren postures up.

Askren wants to free his trapped foot but Perdatov is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Askren is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Askren is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Perdatov defends it well.

Perdatov makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Perdatov.

Askren drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Perdatov dives on top into guard.
Perdatov wants to control from the top but Askren keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Perdatov missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Askren wants to get back to his feet but Perdatov is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Perdatov is trying to control. Askren wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Perdatov scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Askren is staying active underneath Perdatov, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Askren tries to kick Perdatov off but Perdatov keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Perdatov trying to control from half guard but Askren is working away.
Perdatov looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Perdatov is taking a breather. Askren says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Perdatov is keen to just control but Askren is a slippery customer.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Perdatov drops an elbow to the side of Askren's head.
Askren looks like he's trying to stand up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Perdatov in particular looking to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ben Askren will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Askren fails with a takedown attempt.
Perdatov catches Askren with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Perdatov just misses with a punch to the body.
Perdatov lands a slapping body shot.
Perdatov's jab looks to have found its range, popping Askren under the eye.
Perdatov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Askren manages to avoid it.
Askren shoots in but no luck this time.
Horrible takedown by Askren or perhaps it was just good defense by Perdatov which made him look bad.
Nanos Perdatov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Askren.
Perdatov lands a right hook to the body.
Perdatov fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Perdatov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Askren is not content to let Perdatov control the position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Perdatov slips a nice elbow through Askren's hands, connecting with Askren's forehead.
Perdatov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Askren keeps working.
Askren is trying to stand up here but Perdatov is controlling him well.
Perdatov takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Askren tries to kick Perdatov off but Perdatov keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Askren is not content to let Perdatov control the position.
Askren pushes Perdatov off looking to stand but Perdatov dives back in and keeps control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Nanos Perdatov.
Askren shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Perdatov pinned against the cage. Perdatov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Perdatov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Askren circles away.
Perdatov misses with a body shot

and Askren counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Askren.
Perdatov preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Askren drops back, looking for a kneebar! Perdatov looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Perdatov looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Perdatov!
Askren wants to get back to his feet but Perdatov is dominant here and he's now got Askren's back!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Perdatov working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Askren is doing well to defend. Perdatov seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Askren is forced to tap and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Nanos Perdatov!
