PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mack Phace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phace comes to the cage accompanied by "Undecided" by Silverchair. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phace shoots in for a double leg but Griffin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Griffin swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Phace gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Griffin advances to half guard.
Phace on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Phace tries to get out of the position.
Phace wants to control but Griffin is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Griffin fails to take his opponent's back.
Phace is trying desperately to improve position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Phace throwing hammer fists to the chest of Griffin. What's that going to do exactly?
Griffin trying to control but Phace is having none of it.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Griffin goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Phace is on top in guard.

Griffin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Phace gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Phace is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Griffin has his foot on Phace's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Phace works his way back into a safe position though.

Griffin wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Griffin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Griffin thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Phace shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Griffin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Griffin throws a series of punches but Phace avoids them all with ease.
Griffin lands a slapping body shot.
Griffin scores with a body shot.
Griffin lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

It looks like Mack Phace has been cut.
Griffin swings for the body but Phace moves out of range.

Griffin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Griffin is trying to work for a kimura but Phace is defending well.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Griffin gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Griffin lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Phace!
Griffin pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Phace is bucking up trying to escape but Griffin cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Griffin is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Griffin!
