Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Trever Bernard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Everett Swan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trever Bernard has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Trever Bernard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Everett Swan!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Eddie Farnsworth and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bernard throws a low kick but Swan avoids it.
Swan tries to clinch there but Bernard circles away.

Bernard shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Bernard controlling the position easily from mount.
Bernard's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Bernard with shots to the head and body - Swan looks very uncomfortable down there.
Swan keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bernard sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Bernard has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Swan is wriggling around trying to escape.
Swan looks gassed!

Bernard content just to control the position here.
Swan is desperately trying to improve his position but Bernard has a good base and remains in mount.
Bernard tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Trever Bernard just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Swan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
No joy there for Swan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bernard connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Bernard throws a head kick but Swan moves out of range.
Bernard throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Swan's waist but Swan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bernard off to one side.
Horrible takedown by Bernard or perhaps it was just good defense by Swan which made him look bad.
Bernard loads up on a big right hand but Swan slips the punch.
Bernard misses with a hook. Swan ducked under it nicely.

Swan ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Bernard throws a big shot that misses.
A choreographed right hand from Bernard misses the target.
Swan with a poor takedown

and Bernard counters with a nice double leg into side control. Swan won't be happy with that.
Swan is trying to escape the position but Bernard is controlling the position.
Bernard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Swan keeps working.
Swan is trying to control Bernard's posture but Bernard avoids it.
Swan is working to avoid the ground and pound but Bernard connects with a decent elbow.

Bernard decides to stand back up. Bernard steps back and let's Swan get back to his feet.

Good leg kick by Bernard there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Swan lands with a nice combination. Bernard backs away looking to recover.
Bernard cracks the inside of Swan's front leg.
Bernard pivots, looking for a leg kick but Swan is out of range and Bernard settles back down.
Nice defenses there by Swan.
Bernard finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Bernard throws a leg kick but Swan checks it.
Swan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Bernard counters with an inside leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bernard fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Swan.

Everett Swan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Swan is breathing heavily.
Bernard tries for a takedown but Swan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Swan's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

and Bernard counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Swan gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bernard counters with a nice body kick.

Swan takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Swan blocks a low kick nicely.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Swan throws a shot to the body.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Bernard, right into the meat.
Bernard misses with a looping left.
Bernard throws a nice outside leg kick.
Bernard throws the left hand but Swan avoids the punch easily.

and Swan counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trever Bernard. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bernard manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Swan manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Swan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bernard controls the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bernard buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Swan throws a nice looking combination but Bernard bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Bernard shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Swan counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Trever Bernard is winning the standup battle so far.
Swan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A slapping leg kick lands for Bernard.
Bernard throws a nice inside leg kick.

Bernard throws a front kick aimed at Swan's knee but Swan avoids it well.
Bernard shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Bernard controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Bernard throws and elbow that misses. Swan uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bernard's guard. Nice move by Swan!
Bernard is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Swan wants to control from the top but Bernard keeps moving.
Swan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Swan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Bernard has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Bernard wants to sweep but no luck.
Swan looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Swan wants to pass the guard but Bernard is keeping the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Bernard lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Bernard throws a head kick but Swan moves out of range.
Bernard swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bernard scores with a kick to the body.
Bernard will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trever Bernard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice straight punches there by Bernard. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Bernard.
Swan tries to clinch
and Bernard counters with a thumping low kick.
Swan swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Bernard takes the fight into the clinch.

Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Swan lands a right hand.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Bernard just misses with a elbow thrown towards Swan's brow.
Bernard is trying to maintain a safe position but Swan gets an underhook and turns Bernard into the cage.
Bernard slows down the pace here.
Bernard tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Swan prevents a takedown attempt there.
Swan stops a takedown attempt from Bernard.
Everett Swan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Swan scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Bernard managing to block the knees to the body from Swan.
Swan pressing his opponent against the cage.
Swan jumps guard but Bernard stands there with Swan around his waist. Swan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Well Bernard has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
