PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marko Tokic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marko Ivic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tokic has Ivic up against the cage in a clinch.
Ivic looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Ivic lands a takedown into guard.
Tokic is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Tokic is looking for a triangle but Ivic pushes his legs off easily.

Tokic looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Tokic bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ivic's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Marko Tokic.
Ivic leaves Tokic with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Tokic looks for a takedown but Ivic sprawls well.
Tokic works over Ivic's head and body with a nice combination.

Tokic moves into range and clinches up with Ivic.
Ivic goes for a takedown attempt but Tokic pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Tokic shoots for a double leg takedown but Ivic sprawls well. He's pushed Tokic's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marko Tokic. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tokic changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ivic tries to avoid it but Tokic manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ivic to the ground. Ivic escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ivic misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ivic fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Ivic swats away the attempt to clinch by Tokic.
Marko Ivic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tokic lands with a kick to the temple. Ivic shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Ivic keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Tokic fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Ivic lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Tokic has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Tokic and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Tokic misses with a takedown attempt - Ivic sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Ivic looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Ivic stuffs the takedown.

Ivic shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tokic tries to reverse the position but Ivic maintains control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ivic tries to control but Tokic wriggling away.
Tokic takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Tokic tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ivic swivels and escapes.
Tokic lands a head kick. Ivic smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
The fighters circling - Ivic throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Ivic thows a body shot but no joy.

Tokic fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ivic to the ground. Tokic is now in Ivic's guard.

Tokic stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ivic swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Tokic passes Ivic's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Ivic wants to control but Tokic is keeping busy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Tokic stops Ivic from getting back to his feet.
Tokic is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Tokic seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ivic does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Tokic tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Marko Tokic overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ivic is in trouble now - Tokic has advanced to mount!

Tokic looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Ivic tries to control the position but Tokic now has his back.
Ivic tries to roll but Tokic sticks to his back.
Ivic is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Tokic will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Ivic is trying to get back to his feet but Tokic has full control of the position and if anything, Ivic has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Tokic is persistently looking for the submission but Ivic is defending it well.
Ivic staying busy and making it hard for Tokic to control.

Tokic controlling well, preventing Ivic from escaping the position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ivic trying to control the hands but Tokic won't let him.
Ivic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tokic. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Tokic connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Ivic to escape the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Tokic is working for a rear naked choke. Ivic is not defending it well and Tokic has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Ivic refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Ivic's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
