Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Harvey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Selai Canbudi!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Canbudi throws the kick towards the body but Harvey avoids it.
Canbudi tries to clinch but Harvey moves away

so Harvey counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Harvey is looking to work some ground and pound but Canbudi has wrist control.
Canbudi preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Harvey thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Canbudi wants to stand up but Harvey is controlling him.
Harvey throws a big elbow that misses.

Harvey stands and steps away. Canbudi gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Canbudi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Selai Canbudi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Harvey lands a nice leg kick that just misses Canbudi's sensitive parts.
Harvey shoots in for a takedown but Canbudi shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Harvey has closed the distance and engaged Canbudi in a clinch.
Harvey is trying to drag Canbudi to the mat but Canbudi just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Canbudi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Canbudi gets tackled into the cage by Harvey. Harvey maintains the clinch.

Harvey is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Canbudi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Harvey thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Harvey shoots in looking for a takedown but Canbudi manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Harvey's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Harvey shoots in for a double leg but Canbudi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Harvey jumps guard and drags Canbudi to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Harvey bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Canbudi's guard.
Canbudi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Harvey. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The fighters are battling for position here. Harvey manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Harvey pulls Canbudi in close to his closed guard and prevents Canbudi from doing any damage or advancing position.

Harvey fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Canbudi, pushing him back against the cage.

Harvey wants the takedown. Canbudi is fighting it off but Harvey persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Canbudi's guard against the cage.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Harvey, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
