Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Didier Leroy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Liam Lawrence (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Didier Leroy has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leroy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lawrence but Lawrence pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Leroy darts in trying to clinch
and Lawrence counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Leroy thinking.
Leroy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lawrence's waist but Lawrence gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Leroy off to one side.
Lawrence shoots in looking for a takedown but Leroy manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lawrence's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Lawrence shoots in but no luck this time.
Lawrence moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Leroy tries to clinch up but Lawrence circles away and keeps his distance.
Lawrence defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Leroy.

and Lawrence counters with a series of strikes. Leroy will be more careful next time no doubt.
Didier Leroy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Leroy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lawrence but Lawrence pushes him off and we're back to square one.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lawrence enables Leroy to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lawrence manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Lawrence has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Leroy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Leroy prevents Lawrence from getting back to his feet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Leroy dives in and grabs Lawrence's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lawrence pushes down on Leroy's head and hops out.
Lawrence rushes Leroy and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Lawrence turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Lawrence manages to end up in side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Leroy tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Lawrence presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Leroy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Leroy is trying desperately to improve position.
Lawrence is looking to work his way around to Leroy's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Lawrence takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Leroy tries to lock up and control but Lawrence gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The referee warns Leroy that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Leroy bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Leroy throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Lawrence blocks it with crossed arms.
Lawrence is looking to break free of the clinch but Leroy has double underhooks.

Lawrence avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Leroy shoots in for a takedown but Lawrence shows good takedown defense.
Lawrence throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Leroy takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

and Lawrence counters with a nice uppercut.

Leroy tries to close the distance and clinch but Lawrence swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Leroy instigates a clinch.
Leroy tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Leroy is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Lawrence stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Leroy swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Leroy wants to stand but Lawrence is controlling the position.
Leroy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lawrence on the ground.

Lawrence is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Lawrence throws a low kick, looking for Leroy's leg but Leroy calmly moves out of range.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Leroy throws a right and a left that both miss.

Liam Lawrence showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Leroy has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Lawrence regains guard immediately.
Leroy postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lawrence is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Leroy, into his guard.

Leroy controls Lawrence momentarily but Lawrence frees himself.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Didier Leroy.
Well Lawrence has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
