Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Grigoriy Rasputin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Staton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rasputin comes to the cage accompanied by Kiss with a fist. Staton has chosen Puff, The Magic Dragon as his entrance music. Grigoriy Rasputin could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jeremy Staton's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Grigoriy Rasputin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeremy Staton!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rasputin scores with a jab. Staton acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Staton scores with a jab to the jaw.


It looks like Grigoriy Rasputin has been cut.
Rasputin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rasputin tries to close the distance and clinch but Staton swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rasputin is looking to clinch.

Staton closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Well, if Staton is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Staton thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rasputin's head.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jeremy Staton.
Staton thows a body shot but no joy.

Rasputin connects with the punch.

Staton scores with a nice right hand.
Rasputin avoids the body shot from Staton.
Staton looks to throw the jab but Rasputin is out of range.
Staton keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

Staton looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Rasputin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Staton wants to stand and escape but Rasputin is having none of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rasputin tries to free his leg and advance position but Staton is retaining full guard.

Rasputin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Staton manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rasputin has Staton in his guard.
Staton must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jeremy Staton wasn't active enough on the ground.
Rasputin misses with a head kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A bone on bone clash there as Rasputin blocks the leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Staton manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rasputin on his heels. He'll look to pass Rasputin's guard now, I'm sure.

Rasputin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Rasputin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Staton gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rasputin is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Staton defends well.
Staton slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jeremy Staton was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Staton takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Staton looking to control but Rasputin is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Rasputin tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rasputin is wriggling around trying to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeremy Staton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Rasputin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Rasputin takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Staton keeps the fight on the outside.
Staton throws a hook to the side of Rasputin's head but Rasputin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Staton throws a looping overhand right but Rasputin ducks down to avoid it.
Rasputin avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Jeremy Staton seems to be getting the better of the standup.
An inside leg kick from Rasputin misses.

Staton looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Rasputin!

Let's hope that Staton has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Rasputin is squirming around, avoiding Staton's attempts to control the action.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Staton looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Staton has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Rasputin has his foot on Staton's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Staton works his way back into a safe position though.

Rasputin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Staton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Staton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Staton is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Well Staton has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
