Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jamie Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lee Gibbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jamie Hunter has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jamie Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lee Gibbs!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter misses with a takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Gibbs works Hunter's body with a nice hook.
Hunter doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Gibbs counters with a takedown into side control.
Hunter wants to control but Gibbs postures up.
Hunter is trying to improve his position.
Gibbs landing a few strikes.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hunter prevents Gibbs from improving position.
Gibbs tries to advance to mount but Hunter instead regains half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Gibbs stands up and beckons Hunter to join him on the feet.
Gibbs fails with an attempt to clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gibbs.
Hunter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamie Hunter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hunter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gibbs but Gibbs pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Gibbs tries to clinch but Hunter moves out of range.
Hunter fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Hunter stuffs the takedown.
Gibbs shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hunter pinned against the cage. Hunter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Hunter drives through with a takedown into Gibbs's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Hunter controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Hunter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gibbs swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hunter wants to control from the top but Gibbs keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Jamie Hunter has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Hunter shoots and misses

and Gibbs counters by clinching up.

Gibbs manages to pull guard.

Hunter is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Gibbs escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hunter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunter not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Hunter drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gibbs looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gibbs looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gibbs!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gibbs wants to take a breather but Hunter manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Gibbs.
Gibbs must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hunter looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gibbs in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lee Gibbs will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Hunter tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gibbs swivels and escapes.

and Gibbs holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Gibbs's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Gibbs takes the fight into the clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Gibbs is looking to take this one to the mat.

Gibbs pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hunter shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Hunter scoring with some ground and pound.

Gibbs is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hunter tries to free his leg and advance position but Gibbs is retaining full guard.
Hunter sitting in guard here, content to control.

Gibbs looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Gibbs escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hunter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gibbs keeping moving, preventing Hunter from controlling successfully.

Hunter drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gibbs manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hunter has Gibbs in his guard.
Gibbs looking to sit in guard and control but Hunter gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hunter wants to control from the top but Gibbs keeps moving.
Hunter is pushing down on Gibbs's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gibbs is fighting to maintain full guard but Hunter has managed to sneak the leg through.
Gibbs wants to control but Hunter is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hunter lands a nice short elbow.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hunter in particular looking to stall.
Hunter trying to control the action but Gibbs is working from the bottom.
Hunter is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hunter in particular looking to stall.

Hunter seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Gibbs is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
