PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Multi Punch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Devin Derric Styles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Multi Punch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Devin Derric Styles!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Punch shoots in looking for a takedown. Styles tries to sprawl out of it but Punch keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Styles manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Punch closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Punch lands in his opponent's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Punch avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Styles preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Styles tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Punch seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Styles has his foot on Punch's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Punch works his way back into a safe position though.

Styles escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Punch gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Styles can do anything to dispel that myth.

Styles working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Punch doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Punch manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That was a close round but I would say that Multi Punch will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Styles shoots in but no luck this time.
Punch shoots for a takedown but Styles saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Multi Punch is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Styles got a little sloppy there for a moment and Punch has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Styles has managed to get both his arms back between Punch's legs - danger averted.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

That was a close second round but I would say that Multi Punch will probably get the nod.

Punch lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Styles wants to get back to full guard.
Punch throwing shots but Styles is blocking nicely.
Styles is not content to let Punch control the position.
Punch is really struggling to control Styles but he's trying to hold on to the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Punch is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Styles is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well Punch has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
