PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Saget (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Mir might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Amazing. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Saget!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saget fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Saget keeps the fight on the outside.

Saget drives through and clinches with Mir against the cage.
Mir tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Saget just stands there and leans against the cage.
Mir is working for takedown but Saget is calmly controlling the position for now.
Mir wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mir turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Mir manages to end up in side control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Saget tries to control but Mir manages to take his back.
Saget looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.

Mir is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Saget has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
I really don't envy Saget right now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Saget is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Mir not allowing Saget to control his hands.
Mir scores with punches and elbows.
Mir controlling well, preventing Saget from escaping the position.
Mir has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Saget.
Saget looking very determined here, making life difficult for Mir.
Mir is trying to control but Saget is trying to escape here - he's now mounted.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mir prevents Saget from getting the reversal.
Mir controlling the pace for now.
Mir looking to control but Saget is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Saget has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mir doesn't have the hooks in and Saget manages to turn into his guard.

Mir looking for subs off his back but Saget has passed one foot through into half guard.
Mir trying to control here.

Mir missing with punches from the bottom.
Saget throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Saget is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Mir trying to control here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mir makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mir.
Saget pushes down on Mir's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Mir is not content to let Saget control the position.
Saget throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Saget sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Mir defending well though.
Mir is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Saget's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Saget's back!

Mir is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Mir dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Saget looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mir is fending him off so far but Saget persists. Nope, Mir circles away and we're back to standing.

Mir rushes Saget and presses him up against the cage.

Mir pulls guard successfully.
Mir is trying to control the position but Saget postures up.

Mir escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Saget gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Saget trying to move into half guard but instead Mir has managed to sweep!
Mir wants to control from the top but Saget keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Frank Mir wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Saget doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Mir counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Mir is trying to control. Saget wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Mir is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Saget sees it coming and defends easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Saget is looking for a sweep. Mir is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Saget trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Mir manages to pass to mount!
Saget tries to hold on but Mir pushes him away.
Saget is squirming around, avoiding Mir's attempts to control the action.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mir with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Saget keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mir tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Mir is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Saget to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Saget shrugs it off.
Mir can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Saget is looking to escape.
The referee warns Saget that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mir controlling the pace for now.

Mir is working for a guillotine from mount but Saget frees his head quite easily.
Saget tries to improve his position but instead Mir has taken his back!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mir is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Saget has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Mir has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Saget taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Mir doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Frank Mir!
A relieved looking Frank Mir thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
