Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ken Severn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Severn comes to the cage accompanied by Pride FC Theme. Ken Severn had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ken Severn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brad Brown!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Ren Mimura and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Brown throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Severn closes the distance and clinches up with Brown, looking for a takedown. Severn pushes Brown against the cage but Brown circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Severn scores with a takedown into Brown's guard.
Severn distracts Brown with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Brown wants to stand and escape but Severn is having none of it.

Severn drops back looking for a leg! Brown is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Brown manages to kick Severn off! Severn jumps back into Brown's guard.
Severn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Severn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Severn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Severn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Brown is looking to stand up but Severn isn't so interested in that idea.

Severn thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Severn advances position into side control!
Brown is pushing Severn's head away, looking to escape. Severn manages to hold on to the position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Severn trying to control the position but Brown is working away.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Brown misses the shot to the body.
A big right from Brown misses.
Severn tries for a takedown but Brown sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Severn is breathing heavily.
Severn shoots in for a takedown but Brown shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ken Severn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brown misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Brad Brown seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brown misses with an attempted mid kick.
Brown misses with a wild body shot.
Brown pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Severn tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Brown swivels and escapes.
Severn has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Brown misses with a head kick.

Severn shoots in and bounces Brown off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Severn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Severn trying to control the position from guard on top but Brown is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Severn keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Brown's head.
Severn is pushing down on Brown's leg trying to pass to half guard. Brown is fighting to maintain full guard but Severn has managed to sneak the leg through.

Severn is looking for a kimura but Brown is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Severn to get the leverage.

Severn is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Brown has managed to free his arm - good work.
Severn uses his free foot to push down on Brown's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Brown.

Brown has left one of his arms exposed and Severn doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Brown screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ken Severn!
