The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kross throws a nice inside leg kick.
Kross throws a low kick but Drake moves out of range easily.
Kross tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Drake is able to avoid easily.
Kross lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Kross shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kross was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Drake tries to lock up and control but Kross gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Kross tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Kross has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
