PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Key Chain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evan Tannur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Tannur's choice of entrance music: Desert Rose. Evan Tannur has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Key Chain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Evan Tannur!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Tarja Halkonen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chain staying out of range there.
Evan Tannur seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tannur has closed the distance and engaged Chain in a clinch.

Tannur gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Chain regains guard.
Tannur controls from within his opponent's guard.
Tannur postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Tannur throwing strikes from guard but Chain blocks nicely.
Chain is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Tannur seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Evan Tannur hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Chain defending well as Tannur loads up on a big left hand.

Chain fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Chain throws a sloppy head kick and Tannur moves out of range easily.
Chain throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Chain misses with a double jab.
Tannur waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Chain.

Tannur drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Chain preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Tannur postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Chain is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Tannur, into his guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tannur is on top in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tannur scoring with some ground and pound.
Tannur seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Tannur wants to control from the top but Chain keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tannur slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Chain knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tannur on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tannur trying to control the position from guard on top but Chain is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Evan Tannur.

Chain misses with an attempted mid kick.
Chain misses with a looping left.
Tannur shoots in looking for a takedown. Chain tries to sprawl out of it but Tannur keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Chain manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Chain moves away from the strike by Tannur.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Chain throws a right hand that Tannur ducks under and follows up with a left that Tannur also avoids with ease.
Tannur changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Evan Tannur dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Chain looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Chain misses with a body shot

and Tannur holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Tannur prevents Chain from breaking the clinch.

Tannur turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Tannur manages to end up in side control.

Tannur tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tannur has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Chain is trying to escape the position but Tannur is controlling the position.

Tannur grinds an elbow into Chain's temple.
Tannur controls the position.
Tannur trying to control the action but Chain is working from the bottom.
Tannur postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Chain wants to get back to his feet.
Chain managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Tannur.

Tannur is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Chain knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
You can see the frustration on Chain's face as Tannur controls the position.
Let's hope that Tannur has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Tannur misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Tannur throws a strike aimed at the side of Chain's head but Chain avoids it well.
Chain is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Tannur has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Chain is working to avoid the ground and pound but Tannur connects with a decent elbow.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tannur is chipping away with strikes.
Tannur tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Tannur throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Evan Tannur showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Tannur swings away with an uppercut that misses.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Tannur creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Tannur has a couple of punches blocked by Chain.
Tannur scores with a shot to the side of Chain's head.
Chain is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Tannur stalls.
Chain has had enough of the clinch but Tannur keeps him there for the moment.

Tannur lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Tannur.
Chain is trying to force a seperation but Tannur has the dominant position.
Tannur controlling the action here for a moment.
Tannur tries to work over Chain's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Chain blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Tannur works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Tannur is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Tannur is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Chain!

Tannur throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Tannur is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Chain has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Chain!

Tannur working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chain doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chain manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Tannur is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Tannur has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Evan Tannur comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Tannur has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
