PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Long Haired Samson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Rosario (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rosario has chosen COBRA as his entrance music. Fernando Rosario told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Long Haired Samson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Fernando Rosario!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rosario feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Samsons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
A jab from Samson does it's job there.
Rosario moves forwards but Samson connects with a nice, crisp jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Samson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Rosario.
Rosario fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Samson connects with a body shot.
Rosario looks gassed!

Samson steps into range and cracks Rosario with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Rosario flops backwards and Samson dives into his guard looking to finish!

It looks like Fernando Rosario has been cut.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Samson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Rosario really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Samson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Samson is pushing down on Rosario's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rosario is fighting to maintain full guard but Samson has managed to sneak the leg through.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Samson slips a nice elbow through Rosario's hands, connecting with Rosario's forehead.
Samson is nestled in close to Rosario, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Rosario wants to get back to full guard.

Samson is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Rosario is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
