Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Budden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Malakii King!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King shoots in looking for a takedown. Budden tries to sprawl out of it but King keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Budden manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
King stuffs the takedown.
Budden is trying hard to land a takedown here. King sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Budden shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and King counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by King.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Budden. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Budden is trying to trip King. He has hold of a leg but King is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Budden persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
King trying to keep a closed guard but Budden is proving a slippery customer.
King wants to control the position but Budden says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Budden takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
King wants to control but Budden is keeping busy.

Budden stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows King to get to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
King has a takedown stuffed.
No luck for King with that takedown attempt.

Budden clinches with his opponent.
Budden unloads a knee to the mid-section. King lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Budden prevents a takedown attempt there.

Budden has clasped his hands together around King's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
King is trying to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
King trying to control but Budden flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
King looks gassed!
Budden has good solid back control here.
King is trying to break free.
King is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Budden.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
King tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
King wants to hold on but Budden pushes him away.

King is trying desperately to improve position.
Budden tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Budden putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!


It looks like Malakii King has been cut.
Budden controlling his opponent.
Budden knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for King on the ground.

Budden landing strikes from the mount.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Budden closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into King's guard.
Joe Budden overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Budden passes King's left leg - he's now in half guard.
King throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Budden looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

King is pushing off trying to get to his feet. Budden has hold of the leg though and he's dropped back for a heel hook… has he got it?? YES! King is tapping! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Heel Hook). Joe Budden!
