The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matrix walks into a straight right hand from Jarvela.
Matrix tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jarvela sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Matrix somewhat.
Matrix takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Matrix fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Jarvela to the ground. Matrix is now in Jarvela's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Matrix pushes down on Jarvela's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Jarvela tries to roll over but Matrix keeps him under control.
Jarvela has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Matrix is working away from the top position though.
Jarvela is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Matrix scores with a couple of nice shots.

Matrix thows a huge punch but Jarvela dodges it nicely.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Matrix lands a nice short elbow.
Jarvela knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Matrix on the ground.
