Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcos Duarte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and High Voltage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcos Duarte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, High Voltage!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, David Schapiro and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Voltage pivots, looking for a leg kick but Duarte is out of range and Voltage settles back down.
Voltage lands a nice looking body shot.
A nice inside leg kick there by Voltage. That's going to slow Duarte down.

Duarte drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Duarte tries to move to mount but Voltage blocks the move with his legs.

Duarte wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Voltage, who protects the arm well.
Duarte in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Duarte tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Duarte has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Duarte wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Voltage, who protects the arm well.
Duarte wants to lay and pray for a moment but Voltage keeps working.
Voltage avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Duarte.

Voltage is trying to control Duarte's posture but Duarte avoids it.
Voltage is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Duarte has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Duarte is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Voltage knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Voltage throws the kick towards the body but Duarte avoids it.
Voltage pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Voltage digs a good body shot into Duarte's ribs.
Voltage throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Voltage looks to land a left hand but Duarte moved out of range nicely.

Duarte shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Voltage as he avoids it easily.
Voltage looks to throw the jab but Duarte is out of range.
Voltage tries to land a front kick but Duarte steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Duarte swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Duarte takes a swing at Voltage's ribcage but misses.
Duarte throws a good cross that connects.
Duarte's jab looks to have found its range, popping Voltage under the eye.
Voltage fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Duarte is out of range.
Voltage swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Voltage uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Duarte.
Voltage looks to land a combination but Duarte avoids it well.

Duarte closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Voltage's guard.
Voltage keeping moving, preventing Duarte from controlling successfully.
Voltage is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Duarte throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Voltage works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Voltage really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Duarte. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Duarte is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Duarte advances to half guard.
Duarte lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Duarte is working for a kimura but Voltage is defending it quite comfortably.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Duarte thows a huge punch but Voltage dodges it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Duarte throws a sloppy head kick and Voltage moves out of range easily.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Voltage.
Duarte throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Voltage sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Voltage fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Voltage tries to land a front kick but Duarte steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Horrible takedown by Duarte or perhaps it was just good defense by Voltage which made him look bad.

Voltage moves away from the strike by Duarte.
Voltage takes one to the chin there.
High Voltage seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Voltage looks to land a body kick but Duarte moved away.
Duarte throws a jab when Voltage was well out of range.
Voltage misses with a left hand
and Duarte counters with a stiff right hand.
A big left from Voltage misses.
Duarte connects with a nice looking jab.
Duarte punishes Voltage's body with a nice straight punch.
Voltage tries to close the distance and clinch but Duarte swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Voltage tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
High Voltage has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

A low kick from Voltage is predictable there
and Duarte counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Duarte fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcos Duarte. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Voltage feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Duarte's calf.
Duarte connects with a crisp jab.
High Voltage is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Duarte dives in and scores a takedown into Voltage's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Voltage is looking for a triangle but Duarte pushes his legs off easily.

Duarte loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Voltage had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Duarte defends it easily.
Duarte stands and throws Voltage's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Duarte is looking to take a break and control but Voltage is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Voltage's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

A lull in the action here as Duarte stalls from top position.

Duarte thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Duarte is working to tighten is grip on Voltage's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Voltage has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Duarte is really squeezing tight and eventually Voltage passes out! Duarte breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Marcos Duarte!
