PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rob Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pauly Dee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dee comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Get Crazy-LMFAO kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Pauly Dee is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rob Pain !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pauly Dee!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dee closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Pain fails with the takedown
and Dee counters with a two punch combo.
Dee ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Dee lands a head shot.
No luck for Pain with that takedown attempt.
Pain shoots in but Dee avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rob Pain . That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dee connects with a nice looking jab.
A left and a right from Dee both land. Nice combination.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pain shoots and misses
and Dee counters with a nice uppercut.

Pain closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Dee is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Pain is looking for a kimura here.

Pain missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Dee tries to roll over but Pain keeps him under control.

Pain is trying to work for a kimura but Dee is defending well.

Pain is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Dee has managed to free his arm - good work.
Dee is trying to get back to full guard.

Pain is looking for a kimura here.

Pain looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dee gets full guard.
Dee wants to sweep here but Pain controlling him for the moment.
Dee throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Dee tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Pain pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dee is keeping the position for now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pain stopping the sweep attempt from Dee.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Pain slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Pain working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Dee is looking to reverse the position.
Dee gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Dee wants to improve his position but Pain is controlling well.
Dee is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Pain is looking for a kimura but Dee is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pain to get the leverage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pain prevents Dee from improving his position.

Pain is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dee is just riding it out for now. Pain eventually gives up the hold.

Pain is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dee can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dee slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Pain drops back looking for a leg! Dee is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dee manages to kick Pain off! Pain jumps back into Dee's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Pauly Dee will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Pain fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Pain will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Dee.
Dee cracks Pain with a big right hand but Pain just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Dee wants to control for a moment but Pain uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Pain is trying to get back to full guard.
Pain moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Pain is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dee defends well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dee looking to pass the guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Pain looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Pain has momentary wrist control but Dee slips an elbow through the middle.

Dee got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pain has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dee has managed to get both his arms back between Pain 's legs - danger averted.
Dee must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Dee stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pain swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Pain keeping moving, preventing Dee from controlling successfully.

Pain looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Pain is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Dee frees his head nicely. Oh but Pain has switched to an armbar! Dee is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Rob Pain !
