The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connell throws a hook to the side of Walter's head but Walter sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Connell misses with an uppercut. Walter saw that one coming.
Walter slips a jab and a cross from Connell.

Walter gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Connell is trying to break free.
Connell is trying to force a seperation but Walter has the dominant position.
Connell is looking to break free of the clinch but Walter has double underhooks.
Connell is trying to break the clinch but Walter has him pressed against the cage.

Walter manages to break the clinch.
Connell defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Walter.
Connell lands a nice shot to the body.
Connell keeps the fight on the outside.

Walter shoots in and gets a takedown into Connell's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Walter misses with a takedown attempt - Connell sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Walter avoids a punch combination nicely.
Walter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Connell but Connell pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Desmond Connell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anton Walter.
Walter shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Connell pinned against the cage. Connell gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Walter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Connell as he avoids it easily.
Connell misses with a few strikes there.
Connell lands a nice shot that snaps Walter's head back.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Connell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Walter is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Connell.

Walter is rocked!
Desmond Connell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Connell swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A slow jab from Connell misses its intended target.
Connell avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Walter bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Walter tries for a takedown but Connell sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Connell throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Connell throws a hook but Walter blocks it.

Connell drops Walter with a beautiful combination! Walter stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Connell is looking for the KO!
Walter is still on wobbly legs! Can Connell finish him?
Connell misses with a straight right.
Walter is trying hard to land a takedown here. Connell sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Walter avoids the body shot from Connell.
Walter takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Walter seems to have recovered his senses.
Connell digs a good body shot into Walter's ribs.

Walter tries for a takedown but Connell sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Walter shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Connell defends it nicely.

Connell feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Walter sprawling to the canvas! Walter rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Connell finish him?!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Walter will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Connell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Connell lands a big uppercut and Walter crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Walter looks OK. Connell waves Walter back to his feet!
Connell darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Walter's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Connell before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Desmond Connell!
