The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dillashaw closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Salonga quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Salonga is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dillashaw pulls his head out easily.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Salonga has hold of one of Dillashaw's legs. Dillashaw is fighting the takedown attempt but Salonga gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Salonga wants to control from the top but Dillashaw keeps moving.
Salonga must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Dillashaw is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dillashaw feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

TJ Dillashaw has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Asiong Salonga.
Dillashaw tries a knee to the head but Salonga blocks it.
Salonga has Dillashaw pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dillashaw manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Dillashaw turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Dillashaw manages to end up in side control.
Salonga takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

TJ Dillashaw overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Dillashaw decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Asiong Salonga seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Salonga shoots in and drives through. Dillashaw sprawls well.
Dillashaw pulls out of a head kick attempt.
TJ Dillashaw is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Dillashaw clinches up with Salonga and pushes him back against the cage.

Dillashaw breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Salonga looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Dillashaw here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Salonga shoots in looking for a takedown. Dillashaw tries to sprawl out of it but Salonga keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dillashaw manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
