Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Gallagher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mason Skipper!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Skipper looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Skipper is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gallagher defends it well.

Gallagher is trying to stand up here but Skipper is controlling him well.
Gallagher tries to get to full guard but Skipper has control of the leg.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Skipper avoids a punch combination nicely.
Gallagher missing with a left hand there. Skipper was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Skipper darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. Gallagher manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Gallagher is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Skipper is controlling him.

Skipper thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Gallagher is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Skipper pushes down on Gallagher's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Skipper is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Gallagher is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Skipper drops back looking for a leg! Gallagher is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gallagher manages to kick Skipper off! Skipper jumps back into Gallagher's guard.
Skipper wants to pass the guard but Gallagher is keeping the position.

Skipper passes Gallagher's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Skipper works his way into side control.
Gallagher tries to bench press Skipper off him but Skipper keeps the position.

Skipper wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gallagher, who protects the arm well.
Gallagher is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Skipper asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Skipper is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gallagher knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Skipper is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gallagher is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Gallagher sneaks back into half guard.
Gallagher wants to improve his position but Skipper is controlling well.

Skipper wants to free his trapped foot but Gallagher is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Gallagher uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Skipper closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Gallagher is trying to stand up here but Skipper is controlling him well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Skipper moves into full mount! Gallagher won't be happy about that!
Gallagher is desperately trying to improve his position but Skipper has a good base and remains in mount.

Gallagher is trying to escape the mount but Skipper keeps good control and instead manages to take Gallagher's back.

Gallagher is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Skipper doesn't have the hooks in and Gallagher manages to turn into his guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Skipper has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gallagher can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Skipper is on top in guard.
Skipper is pushing down on Gallagher's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gallagher is fighting to maintain full guard but Skipper has managed to sneak the leg through.

Skipper is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gallagher is just riding it out for now. Skipper eventually gives up the hold.
Mason Skipper has got the better of the ground game so far.
