PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Quentin Raffinski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Hardin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quentin Raffinski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Hardin!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hardin wants to clinch but Raffinski slips to the side

and Raffinski counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Raffinski missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Hardin is looking to control Raffinski's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hardin avoid being mounted?
Raffinski slips a nice elbow through Hardin's hands, connecting with Hardin's forehead.
Raffinski trying to control the pace.
Raffinski working Hardin over with strikes.
Raffinski takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Hardin trying to hold on to Raffinski's head to control him but Raffinski postures up.

Hardin avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Raffinski.
Hardin is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Raffinski scores with a couple of nice shots.
Hardin wants to control but Raffinski is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Raffinski looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hardin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Raffinski prevents Hardin from standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hardin keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Hardin tries to roll over but Raffinski keeps him under control.
Raffinski scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Hardin regains full guard. Nicely done.
Raffinski trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Raffinski looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Raffinski really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Hardin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hardin trying to control from half guard but Raffinski is working away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Raffinski pushes Hardin off looking to stand but Hardin dives back in and keeps control.
Hardin wants to take a breather but Raffinski is having none of it.
Raffinski is trying to stand up here but Hardin is controlling him well.
Raffinski controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Quentin Raffinski just wasn't active enough.
Hardin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Raffinski counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hardin's guard now.
Hardin looks gassed!
Hardin being controlled here, momentarily.
Raffinski seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hardin for as long as he can get away with.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Quentin Raffinski wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Raffinski gets a double leg takedown into Hardin's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Raffinski controlling from the top position.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Raffinski checks a leg kick.

Raffinski closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hardin's guard.
Raffinski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hardin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hardin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Raffinski manages to get himself to full guard.
Raffinski throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hardin stands and throws Raffinski's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Hardin trying to control the action but Raffinski is working from the bottom.
Raffinski is trying to get back to half guard.
Hardin advances nicely into full mount.
Raffinski might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hardin looking to control but Raffinski is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hardin pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Hardin tries to control but Raffinski wriggling away.

Hardin is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Raffinski looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Raffinski is posturing up here but Hardin has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Raffinski tries to roll out but it's too tight and Raffinski has to tap! Slick submission there by Hardin!
