PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sasa Gusi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Craig Broph (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Gusi might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Ekipa- BGD Syndicate. Craig Broph will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 14 - 1, fighting out of New York, Craig Broph!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Broph!


It looks like Sasa Gusi has been cut.

Broph closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gusi did well to prevent Broph getting side control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Gusi actively working from the bottom here.
Broph throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Gusi won't allow Broph to pass to mount.
Gusi is looking to improve his position.
Gusi is working hard here to advance position.
Broph takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Broph is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gusi is just riding it out for now. Broph eventually gives up the hold.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gusi might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Broph sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Gusi defending well though.
Gusi is looking for a sweep. Broph is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Gusi works his way to full guard. Good work.
Broph won't allow Gusi to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gusi looking for a guillotine here but Broph defends easily.
Broph makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Gusi controls Broph momentarily but Broph frees himself.
Gusi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Broph pushes down on Gusi's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Broph content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Broph working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Gusi's head.

Gusi working for a triangle but Broph defends it easily.

Broph cracks Gusi with a solid left hand.
Gusi wants to sweep but no luck.
Gusi is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Gusi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Broph gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Broph landing some decent shots from guard.
Broph looking to sit in guard and control but Gusi gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Gusi wants to control from the top but Broph keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Broph pushes a forearm under Gusi's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Gusi is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Craig Broph!
Our winner, Craig Broph, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
