PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Beast Of The East (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Tinsdell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tinsdell has chosen "Left Behind" by Slipknot as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Beast Of The East!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anthony Tinsdell!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Reed Andrews and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The East listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
A jab from The East finds it's way through Tinsdell's defenses.
Beast Of The East seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The East misses with a hook
and Tinsdell counters with a nice uppercut.
The East uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Tinsdell.
Nice shot lands for The East.
Tinsdell wants to clinch but The East slips to the side
and The East counters with a one-two to the body.
Tinsdell tries to clinch up but The East circles away and keeps his distance.
The East scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The East fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

The East lands with a good body shot.

and Tinsdell counters with a lovely shot to the body.
The East throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Tinsdell decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in The East's guard.

The East is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tinsdell avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tinsdell drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tinsdell jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The East has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Tinsdell escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Tinsdell!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The East can't do much from the bottom here.
The East sneaks back into half guard.
The East is looking to improve his position.

The East looking for subs from the bottom but Tinsdell mounts him!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tinsdell postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. The East looks a forlorn figure.
Tinsdell lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Beast Of The East will probably get the nod.
That's time! The East's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


The East misses with an uppercut. Tinsdell saw that one coming.
Some bone on bone action there as Tinsdell checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
The East slaps away a takedown attempt from Tinsdell, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Tinsdell avoids the body shot from The East.
Horrible takedown by Tinsdell or perhaps it was just good defense by The East which made him look bad.

and Tinsdell counters with a takedown into side control.
The East is looking for a sweep.
Tinsdell trying to control the position but The East is working away.
The East is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Tinsdell off and has taken his back!

Tinsdell has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from The East.
Tinsdell rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

The East is looking for a kimura here.
The East throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Tinsdell to regain full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The East got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tinsdell has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, The East has managed to get both his arms back between Tinsdell's legs - danger averted.

Tinsdell is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Tinsdell avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The East trying to control the position from guard on top but Tinsdell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The East postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Tinsdell is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of The East, into his guard.
The East looking for a sweep. Not yet The East, not yet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The East escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tinsdell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The East throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Tinsdell escapes and throws The East's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Tinsdell tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The East tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The East looking for a sweep but Tinsdell has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Tinsdell wants to finish this one by submission but The East is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Tinsdell.
Tinsdell can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as The East is looking to escape.
Tinsdell cracks The East with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The East really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anthony Tinsdell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

and Tinsdell counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

The East throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
The East misses with a jab to the body

and Tinsdell counters by clinching up.
The East avoiding damage.
Tinsdell fails to pull the fight into his guard.
The East misses with a knee strike.
The East misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Tinsdell tries to work over The East's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The East misses with a short punch on the inside.

The East works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The East advances position into side control!
The East is trying to move to mount but Tinsdell reverses beautifully and ends up in The East's guard.

The East looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The East looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Tinsdell has picked The East up and slammed him! The East can't keep hold of the triangle and Tinsdell manages to pass to side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!
The East gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Tinsdell is sneakily working for an arm triangle but The East sees it coming and defends easily.

The East is trying to control but can't.
Tinsdell lands with a punch from half guard.

Tinsdell is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. The East doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tinsdell.

Tinsdell is working for a submission of some sort.

The East is defending against the submission attempts here by Tinsdell.
The East gets full guard.

Beast Of The East showed his dominance in that final round.

In his post fight interview, Beast Of The East started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
