PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between John Dodson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adrian Baker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Baker comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Lamb of God- Walk With Me In Hell kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Adrian Baker was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Dodson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Adrian Baker!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baker gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Dodson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Baker looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Baker tries for a takedown but Dodson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Dodson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nice straight punches there by Dodson. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Dodson.
Dodson fails to land with a series of punches.
Baker fails with a takedown attempt.
John Dodson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adrian Baker.
Dodson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Baker backs up against the cage.
Dodson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Baker circles away quickly and effectively.
Baker tries to clinch but Dodson is having none of it.
Dodson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Dodson tries to bum rush Baker with a series of wild strikes but Baker uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

so Dodson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Dodson lands a couple of elbows.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dodson cracks Baker with a solid left hand.
Dodson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Dodson tries to free his leg and advance position but Baker is retaining full guard.

Dodson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Baker on the ground.

Dodson wants to control from the top but Baker keeps moving.

Dodson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Baker looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Dodson stands up over Baker, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Dodson trying to control but Baker is working from the bottom.
Dodson lands a couple of digs.
Dodson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Baker's head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dodson wants to control from the top but Baker keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Baker keeping moving, preventing Dodson from controlling successfully.

Baker working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dodson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dodson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Baker is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Dodson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Dodson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Dodson lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Dodson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Baker's head.
Dodson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Baker's head.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dodson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Dodson dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Dodson lands the left hand.

Dodson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Dodson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Baker is squirming around, avoiding Dodson's attempts to control the action.
BOOM! Dodson connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Dodson landing strikes from the mount and Baker is in trouble!
Dodson lands a heavy elbow.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Dodson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!


Baker is rocked!
Dodson unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Baker wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Dodson celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Dodson!
John Dodson opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
