Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Spar Bjj (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikey Morris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Spar Bjj!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mikey Morris!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Morris closes the distance and pushes Bjj back into the cage.

Morris ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Morris no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Bjj trying to control but Morris is working from the bottom.
Bjj looking to pass the guard.

Bjj avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Morris keeping moving, preventing Bjj from controlling successfully.
Bjj will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bjj stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Morris swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bjj throwing strikes from guard but Morris blocks nicely.

Bjj thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Bjj trying to control but Morris is working from the bottom.
Morris throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Bjj sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Bjj drops back looking for a leg! Morris is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Morris manages to kick Bjj off! Bjj jumps back into Morris's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Morris not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Bjj wants to control from the top but Morris keeps moving.
Bjj works over Morris with some ground and pound from guard.
Bjj trying to control the position from guard on top but Morris is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Morris has his foot on Bjj's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bjj works his way back into a safe position though.
Morris really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bjj. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bjj is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Morris is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Bjj postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Morris is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bjj, into his guard.

Bjj is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bjj is looking for a triangle but Morris pushes his legs off easily.
Morris has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bjj is proving hard to escape from.
Morris won't allow Bjj to sweep him here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bjj manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Morris manages to get himself to full guard.
Bjj slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Spar Bjj dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


A head kick misses from Morris.
Bjj doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Morris counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Bjj is working for takedown but Morris is calmly controlling the position for now.
Bjj goes for a takedown attempt but Morris pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Spar Bjj. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Morris drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Bjj struggling a bit here.
Morris in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Morris thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Bjj manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Bjj wants to lay and pray for a moment but Morris keeps working.

Bjj seems to be looking for submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bjj trying to mount his opponent but Morris defends it.
Morris tries to roll over but Bjj keeps him under control.
Bjj wants to control but Morris is keeping him busy.
Morris avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bjj.
Bjj wants to pass the guard but Morris is defending well.
Bjj looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Bjj seems to be working for a kimura but Morris defends the submission attempt.
Morris blocking the ground and pound attempt from Bjj.

Morris is refusing to be controlled, as Bjj sits in half guard.
Bjj passes the guard and advances to mount!
Bjj has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Morris's face.
Bjj is landing with some decent strikes but Morris is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Morris keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Bjj jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Morris manages to avoid the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Bjj working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bjj controlling the position.

Bjj looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bjj goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Morris has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Bjj but great work by Morris.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Spar Bjj dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Morris keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Morris feints and as Bjj raises his hands in defense, Morris changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Bjj trying to keep a closed guard but Morris is proving a slippery customer.

Morris has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Bjj to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Morris is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Bjj pulls down on the head and he's put Morris to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Spar Bjj!
After winning the bout, Spar Bjj thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
